Welcome! Introduce Yourself!
Welcome to the Grand Heresy Forums!
We're exited to open this community for our game and hopefully to make some new friends. And surely to meet some old ones, too, from TROSfans and everywhere.
My real name is Henri and I'm one of the founders of Grand Heresy Press, as well as the administrator of this board. Please feel free to introduce yourselves here, perhaps telling what other games you like or how you found us.
The primary function of these introductions is to acquaint our community with its newcomers, of course, but it has a second purpose as well.
To protect this board from spam-bots, I have severely limited the features all newly registered users have access to. Each and every one of you needs to have your first post approved by a moderator before those limits are automatically lifted. As such, we encourage you to introduce yourself in this very thread -- bots are getting really good these days and posting something about your gaming background in a specific thread makes our canvasing job much, much easier.
What all this means is that until you get approved, your submitted posts will NOT visible on the boards. Don't panic when that happens. Nothing is lost. I can easily approve them all.
Also, we encourage you to pick yourself an avatar for easy visual recognition. You can either choose something from our rather extensive gallery, or upload your own.
If you are having any troubles signing up, please contact me directly: grandheresyforums [ät] gmail [döt] com
These minor inconveniences aside, we heartily welcome you all!
Have fun!

Hi, I'm Iorwerth. Have been interested in Tros for a long while now and have contributed to the other tros forums occassionaly. I have always been aware of the faults in Tros, at least as far as I am concerned, so am looking forward to seeing your version!

I suppose I could do worse than introduce myself in the introductory thread:
Agamemnon - I was on TROSfans as KazianG. I've been involved in the SoS project for more than a year now. I'm also doing some artwork for the book, including the current to-hit dummy.

Hello all!
I am Michael, known as Grettir over on the old trosforums and trosfans, and I am one of the authors of that other successor to TRoS.
I am very happy that you guys carried the torch of those concepts discussed for a successor to TRoS over at trosfans and that Phil and I finally chose to ditch for our own design approach. It is gratifying to see that all that thinking and discussing wasn't wasted, but went on to bloom into something that sounds very intriguing indeed.
Looking forward to reading more about Song of Steel!

I'm Sean. I was Seanchai something or other on trosfans. I've been contributing to SOS for a while now. Sometimes my ideas even made it in

Hi, I'm Simon. I got into TRoS when it first came out, and my group played a lot of it. Whilst I admire Blade and am grateful that TRoS has any kind of successor, I always wanted a 'straight' game without magic or beasties, so this sounds great.

Hi!
I'm Denis, and I used to be on the trosfans forum a while back (haven't been active in ages, however). I'm still running two tros campaigns at the moment, one in a 1581 Pirates setting and another one in Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire setting.
Historical settings are something I'm really interested in, so I'll be following this project closely and hoping it will do great, although I do think that tros is close enough to perfection as it is as to make no real difference! But I'm no less curious to see what you guys did with it =D
All the best to everyone!

Re: Welcome! Introduce Yourself!
Hi there. I promise I'm human!
I was glad to hear about the release of Blade of the Iron Throne, but having been mostly absent from the TROSfans community for a while I was wondering what Henri and associates were up to! I really wish I could have had time to follow all the discussions that have taken place over at TROSfans, but alas it was all too involved, and my personal life just doesn't have as much room for hobbies as it used to. I had read a little about the split in development on the TROS successor, and honestly it had me worried that some fans would feel alienated and some of the really good options that had been discussed would be left by the wayside. So I'm mightily glad to see you're still working on this, and I very much look forward to seeing what you come up with.
The ranged and mounted combat ideas sound particularly intriguing to me. I am more interested in historical European martial arts than sword & sorcery these days (I have even joined a HEMA club in my area and am loving it!), and I always felt that archery and mounted combat were never dealt with very well in TROS—or any other game I've played, for that matter.
So, I wish you good luck with your game development goals, and I will try to pop in every now and then and see how it's coming. I might even leave a comment or two if I have time.

I was wondering where higgins was hiding.
I was a newbie on the TRoS forums and have been following interested in the base system since Ian first brought it to my attention.

Hey gang
I've been a TRoS fan since it was first published (I'm fortunate to have first and second edition printings). Have been gaming for over thirty years and have made some fantastic friends in England, Canada, USA and the rest of the world. I have been following the other TRoS successor very closely and I am now intrigued to see what SoS will bring to the table. I hope my group may be able to participate in the playtest. BTW - I was also known as The GIT! in the TRoS, TRoSfans and Blade forums.

Overdrive reporting in!
Wow this is really great news. After the trosfans successor discussions (which I didn't paritipate in, mostly due to being busy IRL), I always wondered what was going to happen. Well now we know

Re: Welcome! Introduce Yourself!
Hi, I'm Dirk from Stahl... äh... Germany.
Actually we play Warhammer but I have some exclusive members of our RPG party I play TRoS with. I like to see your game and my plan is (the plan!) to pick up the best parts of SoS and BotIT and melt it with tros for the ultimate RPG experience. BotIT is a little toooo Sord and Sorcery for me.
I will use my own setting (an "Alternative Earth" thing) for which I also started a RuneQuest/Legend conversion with the combat system from Chivalry&Sorcery.
But the time for my hobby is very rare.
