Indeed. Thought that Reflex was A+C. Typo I guess.thirtythr33 wrote:Also, why are Reflex and Speed different things when they derive from the same Attributes are can essentially be described as the same thing?
Or is reflex supposed to still be Agility + Cunning like in the last version?

You noticed Compensation and Accuracy in the video but didn't notice Keen?thirtythr33 wrote:Keen?
All the debate about weapon realism made me realize that what clearly needed was a critical strike threshold and damage multipliers. We're also in the process of adding more granular weapon weights, speed modifiers, metallurgical modifiers, tempering modifiers, and mood modifiers for both person and weapon, because after all that, I needed a pick-me-up.Barbarossa wrote:Crap! AHEM.
No. In all seriousness. We noticed that there was a bit of fiddliness on whether certain social skills were better resisted by cunning or perception and after a while it seemed easiest/most fair to split the difference -- in this case quite literally. Keen now serves as a social defense and a general sense of insight. In the future, it will also serve as the basis for the optional social combat system.

So we get 5 PrimaryAgamemnon wrote:We noticed that there was a bit of fiddliness on whether certain social skills were better resisted by cunning or perception and after a while it seemed easiest/most fair to split the difference -- in this case quite literally. A=Agility
B=Brawn
C=Cunning
P=Perception
W=Will
and 4 Derived
G = Grit (B+W)/2
K = Keen (C+P)/2
R = Reflex (A+C)/2
S = Speed (A+B)/2
Why not add this too?
T = Temperance (P+W)/2; Moderation and self-control in action, statement, etc.
That way we have 5 Prime and 5 Derived, plus all possible X+Y Prime combinations, taking care of any OCDs. Perfect Symmetry, and each Attribute has a single letter assigned to it.

That's not all the combinations of attributes. There are 10 total.
Missing would be A+P, A+W, B+C, B+P, C+W.

I think you have a math error there, Ben.Benedict wrote: That way we have 5 Prime and 5 Derived, plus all possible X+Y Prime combinations, taking care of any OCDs. Perfect Symmetry, and each Attribute has a single letter assigned to it.
A+W, A+P, B+C, B+P... which one am i missing?
Although when you said "possible combination" you probably meant "combination that makes sense" i figure.
... and 33 beat me to it, hahaha

No, you are both right. It's just that there's so much heat here and the AC is busted.
What I meant was "every possible combination when each Primary is used twice" so you end up with 5 Derived (that's total 10 Primaries used) but each gets used the same times. No instance of a 3 uses Agility vs 1 use Perception for example. And the desired number of Derived is 5 because the Primary are 5. Told ya, takes care of OCDs.
Anyway, the heat foiled my feeble attempt of a lame joke.

While the old Edges & Flaws were quite evocative for generating ideas, axing them has been so worth it. The new Traits chapter is probably my absolute favorite now.
