Re: The Floating City [OOC]
Well, I'm not sure what are we waiting for. Yeah, now we should play the duel between Marco and Blasio (unless he doesn't want to fight or something), and then this another ambush.
But remember Benedict left for vacation. I suspect we must freeze the game?

If we play the build up to duel, we don't have to freeze the game immediately...

Re: The Floating City [OOC]
Sorry, things are just waiting for me to put up the next thread. We won't be freezing play.
I've been busy this week and won't be able to sit down to write the intro for the next scene until tomorrow.
We won't be jumping straight to the dual. The scene will be Giacomo going to talk to Blasio; with anyone who wishes attending him. Or if noone wants to go, it will be Giacomo arriving back home with news of his conversation with Blasio. I kind of assume atleast Marco will be going since he plans to challenge him to a duel.
I need some idea of who is going to confront Blasio and who is staying at the Acerbi estate and/or if anyone is taking the captives somewhere (for execution/freedom/prison etc).

This is pretty important. Remember, these guys you caught haven't actually committed terrible crimes. Arguably they have done less than Karl and Giorgio intimidating the woodcarver. Not to mention kidnapping and false imprisonment is quite serious. Obviously you can make good cases for defending the woodcarver and all that, but the longer you keep them held at the Acerbi estate the harder it becomes to turn them over to the law.DannyBoy wrote:Fair enough. I just get a bad feeling about keeping these guys locked in the Acerbi basement because the longer we keep them here, the more difficult it becomes to turn them over to the authorities without raisibg some awkward questions.

Assuming Marco goes to Blasio with Giacomo, Cirillo will accompany him.

Re: The Floating City [OOC]
Unless Marco asks him to come, Karl will stay behind.
Karl asks Marco for the direction to a warehouse they can use for the ambush.
Once he has the place, with the help of those who are not going to talk to Blasio, he will transport the prisoners to the warehosue.
He will treat the prisoners well.
He will hide them in a covered wagon or small cart once it is dark outside, but not in the middle of the night.
If you can describe the warehouse, we will have some fun planning it

Re: The Floating City [OOC]
Marco's family has some warehouses they use to store things they buy and sell (they are a merchant family after all) but those are busy places, with workers coming and going all day. You might be able to find an abandoned one or a small warehouse owner who would be willing to look the other way if you ask around... (or convince Marco to give everyone a holiday? )Alex wrote:Karl asks Marco for the direction to a warehouse they can use for the ambush.
Is everyone else just waiting for Marco to return or do you want to start scoping out a warehouse?
When was the last time Giorgio or Eleanora went home? Has Ferran been staying at the Acerbi estate too? Does anyone want to have a chat with one of Giacomo's guards or the new maid? What about some more investigation work, I remember someone saying they wanted to check out the Crossed Keys at some point.
Let me know what your plans for the morning are and I'll throw up another thread for it.

No holidays! Other merchants will exploit this time... unacceptable!thirtythr33 wrote:You might be able to find an abandoned one or a small warehouse owner who would be willing to look the other way if you ask around... (or convince Marco to give everyone a holiday? )
OK, maybe I can do some rolls? I was thinking about a Background (to find an abandoned warehouse) or Connections (to meet another merchant and ask for his help) roll? Which one makes more sense?
And I'd like to try another roll - as I can't decide, how will Marco behave, I'll let dice decide. He is not really good in hiding his intentions and emotions, he might explode when he sees Blasio.

Re: The Floating City [OOC]
Connections (trade merchant) seems to make sense. Just pick what you are aiming for, and roll against the ob it makes p95.
We can assume that Marco told Karl and the others about the merchant he thinks might be able to help before he left to see Blasio.

OK, Social 2 + Merchant 3 = 5 dice
General practise, needed right now - Ob 3

Aaand I'll roll one dice for willpower. If success, Marco shuts his mouth when confronting Blasio and let's Blasio speak with him. If failure, than...

Okay, Marco thinks the merchant Nicolo Gonzago might be able to help.

Re: The Floating City [OOC]
Since Karl decided to cashed out at the beginning, he is not normally staying at the Acerbi household. He stays in a cheap room in a poor neighborhood.
But since he had a long night, he will sleep the night off in a corner somewhere on the Acerbi property. He wants to stay close to the other guards until the whole Rocco business is done.
He will sleep off until Marco comes back from his encounter with Blasio.
They have the merchand contact, but he will wait for Marco to return to go to the warehouse.
He makes sure the prisoners are well taken care of.

Re: The Floating City [OOC]
Basically, it means to have something you were relying on fail or not come to pass. It is an extension of the "safety net" metaphor. In this context blasio is asking whether the woodcarver has proven to be unreliable.Korbel wrote:Pardon me, what do you mean by "to fall through"?

OK, thanks. That was my first impression based on the context, but my dictionary gave me some weird suggestions...thirtythr33 wrote:Basically, it means to have something you were relying on fail or not come to pass. I suppose Marco means his first second (his brother)
