My first thought about using many different weapon silhouettes is that it would make the cover say "I'm an equipment guide, specifically weapons guide.". I could be wrong but that's my initial thought.
EinBein's comment about no blood on the letters is interesting. Have you tried to have some drops of blood on the letters? How about something that looks like someone had tried to wipe the blood from the cover? That might be hard to pull of and might end up looking horrible
