Er, thought I posted! :lol:
  • We wait for night to fall.
  • We will row the boat slowly and cautiously to their rear.
  • Ferran will try to swim to the ship and climb up there.
  • Then he will throw a rope or something when all is clear for Giorgio to climb aboard.

Roll for me Agi + Athletics. I believe it is 8 dice for Ferran.

It's being opposed by their Passive Perception (3 Cun + 2 Taking Point).

Exploding

Yup. For the bonus effect, Giorgio will use his strength and the rope you trailed to pull himself over to the galley, as if you shared successes with him (he actually doesn't have any athletics, funnily enough).

Ferran knows this galley is a Brigantine. From Wikipedia:

The Mediterranean brigantine was a small fast ship, sail- and oar-driven, it was square rigged on two masts and had between eight and twelve oars on each side. It was used both as an escort and a transport, Venetian brigantines were about 20 metres long and 3 metres wide. Its speed, maneuverability and ease of handling made it a favorite of Mediterranean pirates. Its name is derived from the Italian word brigantino, which in turn is derived from brigante "brigand". Other than in names, this vessel has no relation to the later brigantines developed in Northern Europe.

And some images:

The modern ones don't have any oars, but they come out from inside the lower deck. You can see the circles on the black and white diagram.

Also, Perception check! Ob4.
(No complications if you fail, you just don't get the extra information.)

Now the hard part. What are the lighting conditions? Is it dark enough to try to sneak past the guy with the pipe? And two questions regarding that bloke. By his dress, he seems like Italian or Ottoman? Also he looks like a regular crewman or an officer?

Clear night, bright moon with a firm breeze pushing clouds past intermittently. It could be dark enough if you time it for a cloud to pass in front of the moon. The dice will decide.

Definitely Ottoman. Turban, large beard, olive skin, silk vest and baggy pants, knee high boots. No obvious marking make him look like an officer. Everyone awake looks Ottoman.

Ok. I will try to sneak by him. Ferran's Stealth is zero. Agi is 4. Just a question. Can I add 1 more die from Sailor Trade (associated skill @ 3+), considering he can cope better with a deck compared to a landlubber? Also remember Ferran has Sealegs edge (count any ship’s surface to be level for the purposes of positioning rolls).

I'll allow it.

What were Ferran's instructions to Giorgio?

They defend with Passive Perception + Taking point again.

This is one case where a table would be more comfortable. :lol:

Please, do narrate. What he sees, hears, smells, touches, etc, etc. :)

F = Ferran
P = Awake Pirates
S = Sleeping

1/3rd people sleeping on deck are ottoman and have weapons.
2/3rd people sleeping on deck are italian and have no weapons.

sleeping people below deck, it is too dark to tell ethnicity or possessions.
