New Years Resolutions

Post by Agamemnon »

I'm normally not a huge New Years Resolution fan, but I've got a bunch of stuff to do this year so why not.
  • Health. 2016 wasn't a great year for my personal health. This year I need to take better care of myself. I'm getting too old to keep living on a diet of coffee, whiskey, and tobacco. Some time away from this keyboard would be a plus, as well.
  • Grand Heresy. This game is coming out this year. In fact, this game is going to be kickstarted relatively soon. My goal for this year is to not only have 'Bastards in print, but to launch the other GH projects to go with it. Kickstarter will give me a decent measure of how much interest there actually is in the thing, which will play a good part in determining whether we wind up putting the hours to develop all of the support projects we have in mind for it -- or whether we go on to develop other stuff instead.
  • Finances. I need to actually have a savings account by the end of this year. I haven't worked out exactly how I'm going to go about that, but I need to get ahead of the curve.
  • Organization. I'm bad at it. I need to be good at it.
What are your resolutions this year?

I need to find a job. I really don't want to because I hate the industry I have been working in previously.

Btw, I don't own a credit card, and iirc Kickstarter doesn't accept PayPal. If this is indeed the case, I'm a bit fucked.

On another note, I'd really love to not be a fat piece of garbage. Losing weight is hard :c

Man, Agamemnon, that sounds serious  You make me feel bad when writing my resolution:

I became father this last year (on the exact day of my birthday) which puts me under pressure to finish my MBA as soon as possible. Hope to begin the thesis this in fall. And after working and learning my ass off for the last ten years, I really need to enjoy life again. This will start with my three months parental leave to New Zealand, continue with assembly and painting of a warband for Saga tabletop (most likely Britons, when the next supplement arrives) and hopefully not end with the use of more time for tabletop RPGs (and to get back into the gamemaster's seat)...

I'm really looking forward to your kickstarter! Hope that there will be good response by the roleplaying community out there.

This year has the potential to be great ;)

Yeah. I'm very much on a "Get your life together," trip right now. I've been gnawing at that particular bone for a few months now.

Nah, sounds like you've earned the break. Besides, if you're not taking some time off to game, how will you enjoy 'Bastards and fill us with play reports.

SPEAKING OF.. weren't you going to write one up at some point?

You were in the graphic design industry, too? (a bad joke, I know)

Not sure. Worst case scenario, you could probably get a pre-loaded card or something at the pledge level you were interested in? You'd have to look into it.

Even if you for some reason can't pick shit up at the kickstarter, one way or another we'll be releasing the game as a commercial product, so you'll still get it in print if you want it. You'll just miss out on the cool kickstarter exclusive bullshit that we have planned

Yes. yes it is. I need to work on that too.

Here's to our mutual success, Grand Heresy, and all that other nonsense.

I didn't set specific resolutions, but aside from obvious ones like income & completion projects, my generic goals are pretty simple:

a) eat better
b) dress better
c) get in my best fighting shape for Denmark
d) maybe visit Ukraine, if I can afford it. Not specifically to buy armor, but one can always hope ;)

I also don't have specific resolutions, but I need to get in shape as well, and find a job. I was planning on doing my PhD first, but after two years of active research during my MSc I'm not so sure anymore. So work it is.

1. Quit smoking. For good this time. I hate it, my girlfriend hates it, and everyone around me hates it. Time to start getting the message.

2. Work out more. This one shouldn't be hard on account of having zero physical activity in my life right now.

3. Pass the LSAT. This one is the Law School Acceptance Test up in Canada. I took a practice one and got a grand total of 0 on the multiple chooce section, so yeah :?

4. Get a sword. I've wanted a sword ever since I saw the Fellowship of the Ring back when I was in grade school. I'm an adult now so I have no excuse

With this, you need to figure out what do you want a sword FOR and then move on from there. It's easy to buy a wallhanger and regret it later on. Or worse, someone gets hurt when it inevitably breaks.

Oh god. This is how it starts. The HEMA is spreading. Turn back while you still can!

So true!

Now, jokes asides, Danny you really must decide what you want that sword for.

A little research and handling some blades before buying anything is the way to go. :)

Oh, my New Year Resolution.

Quit my job. But I must find another job before doing that.
