Ferran insisted leaving the top floor window facing the canal open, to use as a fast escape route (jump in the canal).

Sounds reasonable. I believe Karl was planning when he thought there will be only two defenders. Now, with four of us, I think it's safe to leave one window on north wall open. So, two of us can defend the stairs, third defender- south window, fourth defender - north window (if they try climbing) or support.

EDIT!

OK, so I think I'll roll Climbing. Marco has 9 dice for this.
[dice seed=36132 secure=a8b8a63e_0]9d10[/dice]
expl [dice seed=30274 secure=2ee9b974_1]3d10[/dice]

If Stealth is required to watch them from the roof and remain unseen, here is the roll:
[dice seed=31720 secure=ad639303_2]9d10[/dice]
expl [dice seed=32534 secure=9027b0c3_3]3d10[/dice]

Marco will keep an eye on the thugs, and from time to time check if there is anybody climbing the north wall.

That's medium range, I guess? Too far for my sling :D
So I think I'll go back to the room. Unless there is a way to sneak on those crossbowmen? I could use our small dock to exit the building, than swim to a place where I could climb the wall and than sneak on them...

Not so sure of that one. According to Procopius of Caesarea slings had an effective range further than a Hun bow.

High trajectory (around 45 degrees) bullets could reach up to 400m. :o

Lower trajectories could easily reach around 100m.

Whats the range on the sling? They are around 30m away, but you have higher ground. You should be able to sling that far quite easily.

Yeah, reaching this distance shouldn't be a problem. But accuracy is. Seeing videos on YT, even very skilled slingers have problems hitting the target, when the distance is 20 or 30 meters. 100 m? should be almost impossible to hit a person. This is why I picked the short sling under BoB's rules, optimum range of about 7 meters (close), maximum effective of 25m (short) - sounds about right and realistic.
Well, I could use my Deadeye edge, to increase the effective distance of the sling to 100 meters... but paying one point for one shot? Quite expensive, I was rather going to save them, not spend.

higgins gave the stats as:
Slings
- One attack per round
- Base Cost Sk6

Short sling (close/medium, instant)
Long sling (short/medium, instant, ambushes at d6, can reach up to long range in a volley)

Sling ammo
lead bullet: 4p (acorn-sized)
clay bullet: 4b (egg-sized)
crowbane: 2b (acorn-sized clay bullet; yes, I made that term up)

Rocks: Treat as clay bullet at +1Cplx
Since it is Close/Medium I interpret that to mean Optimal Range Close (You can use Called Shots p114) and Maximum Range Medium (Have to spend dice for called shots, otherwise you roll randomly). 30m is in Medium Range (p112).

All in all, it is a Ob2 shot (1 for max range, 1 for hard to see in darkness) plus you probably want to cover his 3 lower wheels below cover. That should leave you more than enough dice to do real damage.

For me, it looks like a typo or mistake. I believe the maximum range shouldn't be two steps further than optimum... The short sling should be Close/Short. Anyway, it still doesn't make sense for me to sling at targets 100m away, and that's what Medium range allows. But if you think it's alright, I won't argue ;)

No additional Complexity because of firing from the roof? I mean, this is not a crossbow, but sling :)
It's probably too early to start attacking, but... screw this. I want to make my first sling attack!
I suppose it is going to be a shot from ambush, and than we proceed with a roll for Skirmish?

Nope. If you were trying to sling through a window I would have given you a penalty, but firing from a slanted roof seems perfectly reasonable to me.

Yup, you get first shot then we roll Skirmish.

OK, Marco has a CP of 17 when using slings. I'll split them as follows:

Complexity Ob2 - 6 dice
[dice seed=13051 secure=d9921751_0]6d10[/dice]
expl [dice seed=51613 secure=19a8bb10_1]2d10[/dice]

Called shot - 5 dice (to hit ARMS wheel, Marco doesn't want to kill)

Placement - 6 dice left
[dice seed=50231 secure=bc96ffa1_2]6d10[/dice]
expl [dice seed=49353 secure=715bed4d_3]2d10[/dice]

Hit location?
[dice seed=57187 secure=8d5b4760_4]d6[/dice]

I'll attack the crossbowmen on my left. Let's see how it goes...

The only one which could fire is "Thou shalt not kill", but Marco is not risking much targeting arms...
