Ruthard scores a MoS2 Thrust to Shin: 8P - 5 = Level 3 Wound. Impact 3 TN 8. Surface wound. Chipped bone and minor ligament damage. KD3
Ruthard retains initiative and gains Reach Control at next refresh. That Round is over for Ruthard, right?
Karl is parried, initiative goes to the guard. Karl Hooks: Trips the guard with 6 dice.

OK, Gunther rolled 2. He runs to the main door and bangs on them.
On 3, Marras can act

Regarding to PM about Hans's intentions, can he intercept Gunther from reaching the doors?

Hmmm... First, you would have to burn two SPs for In the Nick of Time, to be able to perform your action before he can reach the door.Marras wrote:Regarding to PM about Hans's intentions, can he intercept Gunther from reaching the doors?
Second, you would have to burn another SP to change your action (the movement alone will not let you stop him).
And now... he is within Short range for you (like I've said on PM earlier). Unless you're on horseback, there's no option to melee attack him. But! you could use ranged weapon. I believe you have a dagger in hand. It is not a thrown version, but I think they can be thrown with Disadvantage (probably).
If you change your action, you can use an Aimed ranged attack (-1 to Complexity), or maybe Run and Gonne to close the distance and than throw.
I can't think of other options to "intercept" him.

Re: The Storm - Combat OOC
OK, I spend two SP for this.
If Hans is between the door and Gunther thus preventing Gunther from reaching the door, he has already done the interception I am looking for. Or, if possible Hans waits until Gunther gets near enough (close range) before stepping to clear and give him the good news

He is.Marras wrote:If Hans is between the door and Gunther
I'm not sure if you mere presence at the spot will block his movement. I mean, you have ended your actions - can he simply bypass you and reach the door? The passage is not narrow, two gentlemen will fit. If you want to block somebody, you need an action like Ambush or Provoke a Duel I believe. But they don't let you move this far...Marras wrote:thus preventing Gunther from reaching the door

Re: The Storm - Combat OOC
OK, Hans can't stop Gunther from his current position. Not even using some sort of movement contest?
Provided the above is not an option how what is the pool for throwing the dagger if Hans doesn't have ranged proficiency? I fear that dagger proficiency doesn't include throwing them or does it?

The problem is, I have no idea. We should probably ask Higgins.Marras wrote:OK, Hans can't stop Gunther from his current position. Not even using some sort of movement contest?
It does, fortunately!Marras wrote:Provided the above is not an option how what is the pool for throwing the dagger if Hans doesn't have ranged proficiency? I fear that dagger proficiency doesn't include throwing them or does it?

For 2 points, the player can take this a step further and perform a heroic intervention in the middle of combat. The character can forgo their normal turn in the combat sequence in order to interrupt another player’s individual combat, or to bump their sequence directly in front of a specific character. The most common uses include things like jumping into a melee to save an injured comrade, or taking a last moment shot at an enemy who would otherwise escape.
Depends where Gunther is before he takes his action. If he is within Close range before he moves and Marras spends 3 points he can change his action to Red or Slow: Provoke Duel (1 point) and bump his sequence directly before Gunther moves (2 points). Correct me if wrong, but he can engage him in melee if he pays the price.pg 89 wrote:On Second Thought...
For 1 point, the character can change their action in sequence from what their die throw would have indicated. For instance, a character who declared a movement action (threw a white d6) could choose instead to make an attack (normally red d6) or perform one of the miscellaneous actions (normally d10).
Otherwise he could throw his dagger. CP is Ag+Cu+Dagger, and if the weapon doesn't have Throwing property he rolls with Disadvantage.

Re: The Storm - Combat OOC
I don't think we should wait for Higgins and thanks for Benedict to find those rules!
Sorry if this comes out ... blunt, it is not intended as such and I'm just a player with stakes at play, so keep this in mind
In my mind the setup is that Han approaches the gate from the house and Gunther approaches the house from the gate. Granted, Hans is not at the "road" but rather moving alongside it but with intention to be able to prevent anyone from getting to the house (manor) or from manor to the gate. Hans and Gunther are moving to opposite directions. I can see this playing out storywise as either Hans moves to the way of Gunther ending the current round and starting a new (in time) or Gunther is just too fast and reaches the door before Hans can reach him. I am fine with both explanations and will react accordingly (either throwing the dagger or something like that).
So, Korbel just say the ruling and we'll go from there. I agree that from purely rules wise it might not be all that clear. Perhaps just an opposed roll would resolve which way it went?
In any case, I hope this adds to the beta test material for game devs.

Re: The Storm - Combat OOC
Only one option - the ranged attack - is 100% sure following the rules for me. I'd prefer to use it. And hopefully it works.Marras wrote:So, Korbel just say the ruling and we'll go from there.
So, you can either:
- change the dice to SLOW and pick Aimed Throw (-1 to Complexity, but from Short range, which gives +1 to Cplx);
- change the dice to SLOW and perform Gun and Ronne - move and attack (+1 to Cplx)
(choosing the RED and simple attack is just not worth it)
If you pick the second option, you can try to move:
- within Close range (Ob1) and than throw from the Close range (optimal for throwing weapons);
- or within Short range (Ob3), throwing from Melee range (-2 to Complexity, even more optimal).
(Obs are for Speed / Athletics (Sprinting) rolls to move)
If I fucked something up, I'll give you back this one SP which you must use to change your type of action. Is it fair?

Re: The Storm - Combat OOC
If you're more comfortable with this, then we'll go with that. No problem.
I'll pay 1 SP to change to SLOW action and possibly pay another SP to be able to throw it before Gunther reaches the door? I have to re-read ranged combat.
BTW, does Gunther pass the close range on his way to the manor?

No, you don't need to. As you have paid 2 SPs to be able to act BEFORE his turn, you can throw at him before he reaches the door.Marras wrote:and possibly pay another SP to be able to throw it before Gunther reaches the door?
No, he was not very far from the doors.Marras wrote:BTW, does Gunther pass the close range on his way to the manor?
