Looks like something more fitting for our Lady of War. Regardless, I probably won't be going with the inn idea. I think I prefer a more mobile character.

I'm enjoying the progress you guys are making. I've got the notes for the thing mostly fleshed out. I'll be doing the official info dump in the next day or so.
I'm going to have to add in some cannibals and cultists somewhere now. I love it.

Re: Agamemnon creates another project for himself knowing full well that he shouldn't (New PbP game?)
I had another idea regarding the Church of the Empire.
I think we can all agree that a religion inspired by Catholic Church and similar themes is bound to be intersting. What might be even more interesting is putting a twist on it:
First, i'm assuming the god of worship is pretty much exclusively the Emperor. So either he is seen as a mortal made god, or he is seen as being of divine nature and origin. I'm totally voting that he should be centuries old and, for all that is known, immortal. In case of a former mortal, this might be through "Divine Technology" (maybe he's a "cyborg" - and yes, i'm using these terms very loosely).
Now for the interesting part:
What if this religion sets up the actual "god", the creator of the universe, as the bad guy? You know, similar to the Demiurge of Gnosticism.
So this guy created the universe and everything in it - who exactly that god is now could be derived by defining the underlying philosophy of the faith:
--Is it anti-physicalistic, seeking to free the soul of this sinful earth? In that case, our god created the universe as an elaborate lie to imprison Man's Spirit. Let's call him The Deciever.
--Is it technocratic, seeking to eradicate the evils of nature through science and progress? Then let's call our god The Scornful Mother, who created humans to torture them.
Either way, the Emperor is a Messiah, a Saviour of Humanity, rebeling against the Will of the Heavens.
Just putting that out there.
Now, My Character, and you need to tell me if there is anything wrong with it:

Would that even be okay? I'd just like to not worry too much about managing putting the armour on and off.
Scent might also fit the theme...

Re: Agamemnon creates another project for himself knowing full well that he shouldn't (New PbP game?)
I guess those ideas of yours (nemedeus) concerning the nature of the emperor could be implied through common people's belief and superstitions without necessarily being true, which would fit rather well to the gritty theme. We will have little contact with the emperor anyways in our remote northern province.
I'm curious how your honorable or at least "fair treatment" ideas combine with Bloodthirsty and/or Temper when the situation is not entirely obvious at first That's a nice choice for conflicting situations.
So we'll have one hound only until now (33), which I think is fine. We will be his band of bastards and maybe even do his bidding as long as he keeps an eye on us

Sounds fine by me! 'S good idea to keep it mysterious.EinBein wrote:I guess those ideas of yours (nemedeus) concerning the nature of the emperor could be implied through common people's belief and superstitions without necessarily being true, which would fit rather well to the gritty theme. You got it. Like an attack dog holding herself on a leash.EinBein wrote: I'm curious how your honorable or at least "fair treatment" ideas combine with Bloodthirsty and/or Temper when the situation is not entirely obvious at first That's a nice choice for conflicting situations.
Also, just think of what might happen... what's the price of unjust punishment? THAT'S RIGHT. I AM THE LAW.
To make it even more volatile i could downgrade Edges/Flaws by 1 and put that into Proficiencies... You get a bloodshed, and you get a bloodshed, everyone gets a bloodshed! Oh boy...
I was imagining her as being a Hound already, but that is negotiable. In case that she isn't, though, shoud probably be a guardswoman/constable of some sort, instead of a blacksmith.EinBein wrote: So we'll have one hound only until now (33), which I think is fine. On a sidenote, what's the skill for (criminal) investigation? Streetwise? Intrigue? Manipulation? Or just Trade: Guard?

I'd thought the priviliges of the hound are only attending by the edge "Status" which 33 took in his concept. Those privileges are quite powerful in play I think.I was imagining her as being a Hound already, but that is negotiable. Depends on expertise:On a sidenote, what's the skill for (criminal) investigation? Streetwise? Intrigue? Manipulation? Or just Trade: Guard?
- Intrigue to search for gossip. I took this for my character because I imagine him sitting in a tavern, drinking bottom shelf liquor and asking for anything suspicious that would hint at monsters in the region.
- Intrigue to ask for information at certain kinds of informants
- Streetwise if you search explicitly in lower class / criminal circles
- Manipulation differentiates the methods used, so this might be the most applicable in combination with persuasion expertise?
- Trade might also be a nice one with a fitting descriptor

Would it be a major or a minor status then?
That makes sense.EinBein wrote:Depends on expertise:On a sidenote, what's the skill for (criminal) investigation? Streetwise? Intrigue? Manipulation? Or just Trade: Guard?

The write-up for the status edge seems to indicate that it represents leadership in some kind of organization. In that case, 33's character would be the "senior" hound, and nemedeus' and my characters would be his subordinates (I've decided I'll be making a spy-type character to go with the Hounds' intelligence function). Alternately, it could be the case that the norm is for a fully inducted Hound to lead a cadre of associates, who may or may not be under consideration for full membership later on.EinBein wrote:I'd thought the priviliges of the hound are only attending by the edge "Status" which 33 took in his concept. Here's a draft with a bit more polish.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/wg2c2ct512e8n ... h.pdf?dl=0
Still working out the SAs; trying to make them more things I can act on rather than just descriptions of the way the character thinks. I'll also try to work in some overlap with the other characters as they become more developed. I like what nemedeus did with the always demons/not demons tension.
I don't know what Agamemnon is planning with the whole Status/Hound thing but I'm not really attached to the edge either way. I took it as minor for mid level rank in large organisation.

Cool thing 33.
Will we have a separate sub-forum where we can have single threads for our characters like the Floating City guys?

Heh... originally i meant is more as a joke, but it tells us a bit about our respective characters or even their possible relationship, does it not?thirtythr33 wrote:Still working out the SAs; trying to make them more things I can act on rather than just descriptions of the way the character thinks. And reading between the lines, "It's always Demons" implies the belief that all bad things come from Demons(/Nature/whatever), while "Sometimes it's not Demons" implies disillusionment about the Human Species. Unless that's what you meant in the first place (in that case i'm an idiot for equating "Even if it's not demons, it's demons" to "my suspicion is evidence suffice", which also might be fun).
But that said, yeah i'm also having difficulties with SA. I mean, my other one was basically meant as justification to kill things, hahahaha!
I'd be inclined to pick it as a minor Edge either alongside you or in your stead, if it wasn't for the 4 marks i'd be missing without going up one social class.thirtythr33 wrote:I don't know what Agamemnon is planning with the whole Status/Hound thing but I'm not really attached to the edge either way. Is there any way other than the Wealthy edge to get that money? I don't want to ask for extra special favours* here, so i was speculating on something like trading away a few Skill dots for some extra buck -- which is arguably special treatment nonetheless...
* From the GM as a player is what i mean; i'm not referring to the "favors" passage in the Status edge description.

Re: Agamemnon creates another project for himself knowing full well that he shouldn't (New PbP game?)
@EinBein, omg having a "Karl" in both my games is going to be confusing.
I meant for "even if it's not demons, it's demons" to mean something like Neith always jumping to the demons conclusion until proven otherwise (and even then the demons might just be covering their tracks well). Something close to paranoia, only without the fear. Your sheep are missing? Demons! The river dried up? Demons! The thief says he was possessed by a demon? Let the man go!
As far as wealth, a permissible DM might allow you to use Asset (minor) to get a suit of filled proofed plate armour at a lower social class.

xD Alright then, i can work with that.thirtythr33 wrote:I meant for "even if it's not demons, it's demons" to mean something like Neith always jumping to the demons conclusion until proven otherwise (and even then the demons might just be covering their tracks well). "It might be demons" said Neith, crossed his arms and thought for a moment. "... It's Demons. I'm calling it."
"It's not Demons, Sir" said Denna.
"Seargent Bearing, what are you talking about, don't you smell the Brimstone?"
"Actually i do, Lieutenant."
"THEN WHAT IS YOUR POINT, Sergeant?"
"Sir, we are in a sulfur mine."
I was actually thinking that, originally -- i concluded the description probably wouldn't support it.thirtythr33 wrote:As far as wealth, a permissible DM might allow you to use Asset (minor) to get a suit of filled proofed plate armour at a lower social class.
If Agamemnon allows it, I can go Social Standing 2 / Edges & Flaws 3 (minor Status + minor Asset / Bloodthirsty), that would work very well.

@33: You can call him "the Boy", as part of his background story, which I have sketched out in the "NPC's and Notes" section. He would still use his former self's nickname in huge contrast to his current build, experience and fighting force.
