Re: Ferran Costa "Dal Isolotto"
Looks like a good character idea.
Spyglass and maps are fine to have.
The real question is how does Ferran get tangled up in the game that is already running? Currently the group is investigating the rape of a servant of the Acerbi household. What is motivating Ferran to go looking for justice and/or how does he know some of the other characters in the story so far?

Re: Ferran Costa "Dal Isolotto"
I intentionally read only the character and info dump threads. I didn't want to make someone that would seem custom-tailored to the story and/or characters at hand. I have two ideas, if all agree we can go with that.
1. Add a SAs "Has a soft spot for ladies" @ one dot.
2. Change the minor flaw from "Me Myself..." to "Curious".
With these two adjustments he can be present at a place where the other characters talk about the whole affair and Ferran sticks his nose in. Or they are confronted by agents of the guilty party in a back alley and passer-by Ferran sticks his nose once again. Whatever works best. Tbh I'd like him to be a newcomer in the city, oblivious to politics, people, etc and work his way from that.
If any of the above are not appropriate by all means throw in an idea or three.

Re: Ferran Costa "Dal Isolotto"
We just finished playing out a heated argument in a public place that would work for that just fine. It would only require that Ferran be attending a Fencing School to be present.
I'll see if I can come up with something Ferran might know about one of the antagonists he would want to share with the party and would tie him into the story. In the meantime, read through Scene 3 and see if the argument Ferran saw gives any extra inspiration.

Re: Ferran Costa "Dal Isolotto"
The first two places Ferran goes is the taverns at the docks to learn rumors and job opportunities and a fencing school to work out. I guess I'm off to reading Scene Three.
I do those two edits and further comments will be on the OOC thread if the character is ok as he is.

Heh, thanks. That's the idea. Especially during a grapple, since on a rolling deck chances are you'll end up grappling your foe.Korbel wrote:Very dangerous with daggers!

Also, your character could be somehow linked to Karl. We are both low freeman who decided to cashed out. That means we are living in a pretty shitty place. We might be sharing a room or something like that.
You could have heard Karl coming back very late at night when they were out looking for clues at the rape scene. And since you are curious...
Anyway, just tossing out some ideas.

Yes, Ferran could meet with Karl that way. No matter what, chances are they'll end up in the same shit hole. I'm considering this my first time in Venice, just arrived. Top priorities atm are :Alex wrote:Also, your character could be somehow linked to Karl. We are both low freeman who decided to cashed out. That means we are living in a pretty shitty place. 1. check out dock taverns for rumors and job opportunities
2. check out fencing schools for rumors and job opportunities
3. find a cheap place to crash
Nice meeting you all gang. ^^Marras wrote:Welcome to the game!

Ferran gains 1 SA for playing up Curious Flaw.

Re: Ferran Costa "Dal Isolotto"
Since BoB combat assumes you break into 3 1v1 combats (until someone is victorious and join another for a 2v1), I think it will be best if we do your 1v1 here to keep things from getting confused in a single thread.
Continue posting your In Character stuff as normal but do the OOC stuff like dice rolling and maneuver selections etc here.
Stats for throwing the chest:
Uses proficiency Brawling.
It is an Improvised Weapon (you roll with disadvantage). It does +2b with no special properties.
Use Ranged Combat rules p111-115.
After your throw is resolved we will roll for initiative for the second phrase. You won't have to spend any dice to draw your dagger.

Re: Ferran Costa "Dal Isolotto"
I was going more for a strategic effect instead of direct damage with it. Yes, having a heavy chest flung on your head might kill you. On the other hand having a heavy chest thrown at your feet while climbing stairs in the dark, causing confusion/disorientation, unstable footing, and probably a morale break is more what I had in mind. I leave it to you as how this should be resolved.thirtythr33 wrote:Stats for throwing the chest:

Re: Ferran Costa "Dal Isolotto"
So I think going by the rules here should give you a pretty reasonable chance of getting the kind of effect you want.
You have 13CP. For check for complexity is against Ob1 (target is hard to see) and he doesn't have any cover. Since he isn't expecting the attack you get to choose "aim high" or "aim low". So if you assign say 3 dice to complexity and 10 to placement you have a very good chance of either knocking him out or knocking him over, depending where you aim. The blunt damage tables have high chance for knockdown on legs and knockout for head, considering you have +2b. You could even break his neck if you roll well.
Depending how the rest of the ambush unfolds, these guys are going to have to make a Steel test in the following round.

Re: Ferran Costa "Dal Isolotto"
Or since Ferran is not trying to inflict damage with the chest, you can rule it as an easy positioning roll (Ob 1) to gain an Advantage.
