After updating the whole phpBB engine to security updates and making up linguistic countermeasures earlier this year (as reCaptcha was not enough), we've still been getting about three spam accounts per hour on average. It's been snowballing, too. I scrolled through the last ones and some sign-ups were a mere minute apart. A very clear indication why the the vast majority of people stick to the big platforms and why almost nobody wants to administer their own online communities anymore.

So, to sign up here, you need a key. You can find the key on our discord under pinned announcements.
