Outside it is dark and quiet, the flickering street lamps throws long shadows and your footsteps echo down the empty stone streets. It is still 3 or so hours before dawn and takes you some 10 minutes to make it to Regina Street, where Francesca said she was attacked.

It is a narrow winding street, but short. It runs perpendicular to the canal that Saint Antonio bridge crosses a few streets away. Most of the buildings here are two stories, using the lower floor for a shopfront or business and the top floor for the family to live in. The street lamp is lit on the corner near the canal but there are no lights lit in any of the buildings down the street. You can't see or hear anyone else walking nearby.

[OOC: Perception tests please! See OOC thread for details.]

About halfway down the alley there is a small flight of stairs, and at the bottom you find what you must assume was the location of the attack. You find a smear of wet blood, as well as a few droplets that are already beginning to dry. You find a broken tooth in the cracks of the cobblestones. The stones paving the stairs is smooth and the street narrow; sound would definitely carry a long way through here. Above you is a clothes line strung across the stairway, ending near a shuttered window. A wooden sign depicting a mallet and chisel hangs above the doorway of the nearest building.

Karl is a bit disappointed in their meagre finding.
He would rather press the issue right now, but he knows he can't do much for now:

"I bet someone heard or saw what happened. But at this hour, if we knock at someone’s door, they might not be very cooperative... Let's walk tthe nearby streets and if we don't find anyone still outside, we should head back. We can sleep for a few hours and come back in the morning."

You backtrack the path that Francesca said she took for the night. You head down Regina Street and over Saint Antonio Bridge, heading towards the Crossed Keys, not seeing any other people outside tonight.

A few hundred meters up the road from the bridge, you recognize something you heard Francesca mention. You see a sign above the door of a building depicting a Lion of Venice standing over a Cinquedea. The plaque above the door reads "Saint Mark's Fencing School". The door is closed and the lights are out.

"This is definitely a place we will have to check out. Let's stick to our plan: get a few hours of sleep, talk to the neighbours living close the scene, and than we can go to this Saint Mark's Fencing School."
