Nice, thanks for the update. NPC / bestiary section sounds like you are approaching the finish line?

Well, it was one of the last major sections that had no writeup at all as of last week, so, it's definitely true in that sense.

Yeah, I'm not even gonna pretend that I wasn't bummed out for not being able to make it work.
Or rather... it worked, but it was waaay too easy to abuse. That said, we're totally not ruling out publishing our lovingly crafted coins later down the line as a gentlemen-minded alternative.
The one positive aspect about this is that... it cut off the section that was THE most time-consuming to research. So, choosing this route allows us get the game out out earlier than we could have done it otherwise.

Siggi, just love the pic
It's a bummer about the monetary system but I won't judge it without first seeing it. Besides, if this approach shortens the wait time to see the beta, it's fine by me

Past week's agenda: "A horse is not a tool, a.k.a. making named animals memorable"

That'll be interesting if you pull it off.

*sneaks back in*
Alright so: My father's been in and out of the hospital with some relatively serious issues and my schedule's gone all kind of screwy because of it. I haven't been on the forums much lately because what spare time I have managed has been doing actual editing/hacking/writing.
insofar as currency - we have two systems that were competing. Ultimately the more heavily abstracted system won out on design merit, even though we were both partial to the more complex system. This was ultimately chosen for the sake of "pick something and go with it," as we'd wasted way too much time on the subject. Once the game is out there, we're planning on going back and tinkering with the previous setup, or posting our notes on the forums and letting you guys take a shot at it. Everything in our game is basically modular anyway, so if we get it working later there's no reason at all you can't swap one out for the other.
As far as progress - we got NPC stats and a bestiary more or less finished. It needs fluff text but the stats are now there. I've got some more stuff edited up that will make it's way onto Higgin's desk shortly, and my home group is kicking around ideas for another test using the current incarnation of the rules. We also have the demo adventure 80% completed. It's the hope that by the time we get the beta out, the demo adventure will be done and the two can launch together.

Agamemnon, sorry to hear about your father. I hope he is getting better.
When the game is not about counting every single penny an abstract currency system might work just fine. Still, it will be interesting to see your more complex system when there will be time for that.
The progression on all fronts looks promising.

Agamemon's schedule is still hectic and he basically already gave you guys an update on our weekend's work. Inspiration-type character archetypes are also now complete and Agamemnon did a really outstanding job on those.
In other news, a sword got shattered on my head last night. The good old Angry Helm took the brunt of the blow. And as I'm tired from the lack of a visor, I'm shopping for a new helm. Tried this one on, but the sale didn't pan out (visor too close to my face):

Nice helmet. I love Norman types though, maybe with some mail to cover the lower face... But maybe that is not enough for the kind of mayhem you are participating
And archetypes sound great. Really looking forward to play this game. Maybe even try to run 'King for a Day' with the ruleset...

Oh absolutely. It's a completely different era, and as such, it provides a completely different level of protection.
Some of the earlier helmets have been "upgraded" with hidden support structures underneath the maille to facilitate full contact
as you can see here (browse through the images), whereas others that do the viking-era fighting simply use the authentic gear and have forbidden strike-zones as to avoid injury. But yeah, as for my current kit, it's a whoooole different era.

Sorry for missing the update on Thursday. This week we ironed out a more consistent workflow to communicate edits back and forth. Also we added some loving detail on the example setting and tackled the always-challenging area of naming things. Basically we decided that coming up with a fantasy names was going to suck hard no matter how we did it, so, the native culture of the area will be using Estonian naming scheme, which is probably more bizarre than your generic fantasy is.
As of now, I'm generating names for the locales by slightly modifying the names of ancient Estonian fortresses and keeps. Using the actual real ones would probably be kind of weird.
Also, Agamemnon banned umlauts, so, I'm avoiding them as I generate things.
Me:
but umlauts are meaningful in real life
Agamemnon:
I'm sure they are. For an American/English audience though, they are very foreign. To even use them, I'd need to memorize alt-codes
Me:

Agamemnon:
