That's what I was trying to do. Need to perform better.

Several times.

I really liked the game, how you ran the game and my fellow players. It was glorious when Hans and Karl almost went to blows over a bit of loot, that was great and tense moment where you nicely played our SAs against each other. I also really loved to hate those two bounty hunters and how Twinscars had quite a roller coaster ride as his fortunes shifted during the game ever since the first chase at the beginning of the game. Well done!

To me the game was almost a powertrip as Hans managed to play to his strengths far better than my characters usually can even with some horrible dice rolls :) As a side note, I felt a bit bad leaving others at the manor but at the beginning I decided to play the bastard :) What was also great was how he almost changed his ways and that sort of character development is always cool.

If I have to dig something constructive criticism then you should have played up all those SAs and Flaws that we had. Karl's wife and kid should have caused us even more problems and you should have used Hilde to incite a confrontation between Karl and Ruthard at least to similar extent as with Hans and Karl. Then again Stempest had time issues and this might have affected how you could arrange these things. Relating to this, I would suggest that as the basic idea for this one-shot is solid and if you want to run it again as a one-shot, you might consider to have a collection of Edges/Flaws and SAs that bind characters together and give reason to conflicts. Nothing too much but something that still leaves players a possibility to create their characters mostly as they want. Then all you need to do is fan the flames of conflict, add pressure from the situation and see how thing work out.

All in all, great job Korbel, Benedict and Stempest, it was fun!

Maybe he will undergo a transformation next time? Or maybe quite the contrary? We shall se :)

This exactly. Sad thing. Of course I was having some insidious ideas...
Marras wrote:you might consider to have a collection of Edges/Flaws and SAs that bind characters together and give reason to conflicts.
Yup. This time there will be a proper Session Zero for this very reason. One thing will be set in stone - your characters, Hans and Ruthard (no need to replace them). Other than that, you have freedom. Do we directly continue what we started? Skip a few months? This village? Another german city? Maybe you would like to join White Company? Something else? That's something you should sleep on. Than the SAs (some small adjustments, or a complete rewrite) and stuff.

I think I have an idea for game, which would take place somewhere else in Germany and fit your current SAs. If this helps you decide.

Cool. I have a strong suspicion that Marras will agree too, so I believe it would be appropriate for me to start working on details and cast. Unless you would like to change your SAs? They're fine, but maybe you want to add something more?
BTW, I think Ruthard could be awarded with 2 Story Points, one for defending Karl and Hilde, and another for being a bloodthirsty bastard ;) (Ooops, a scoundrel :D )

Well, Ruthard would like to skewer Twinscars and Erich.
Maybe cook a short intro of what happened before assigning new SAs?

I must say Erich will be "out of reach" in this episode... But we could fit "Twinscars" into the scenario somehow.
Benedict wrote:Maybe cook a short intro of what happened before assigning new SAs?
I was planning the events in this period of time (between first and second part) will be directly related to your current SAs.
I've just thought that maybe you want to add some new aspect to your characters, convictions or something.
When it comes to Ruthard... as he wants to protect Karl and Hilde, I thought that one of his main goals will be to help them escape, or force Erich to release them. And I'm planning to focus more on his SA regarding organized church. Hans Foth obviously wants gold, that's pretty straightforward :D And impress Ruthard.

Yeah, I like Hans :) He is still after riches and is ready to gable his life for that goal, no doubt about it. He is also getting more and more ruthless about it, I'm afraid because of how things went in the first episode.

The sad situation is that I don't seem to have enough time or energy to participate at the moment :( If I have understood it correctly, the next episode won't start until new rules are out, right? If so, then my situation can be a lot better (hopefully). In the meantime I will follow these boards and see how things progress. If I don't react to something, I might have missed the update in which case don't hesitate to PM me :)

That's the plan. You know, we will have to switch sooner or later - better make it sooner. No point in using the older version, when you know everything will be a little different.
Lets's wait and see how the works on the new draft progress. I guess it's gonna take weeks, so no rush for us. And you take care and force be with you ;)

Thanks! :)

Yes, I think it will take a while until the next version will be out and hopefully my situation will be at least a bit better then. I agree that it is best to make the change before the next episode as it would complicate things if we did it in the middle of the story.

Some random thoughts...

The house rule we used for plate armor (no proofed plate, munitions cost as proofed) is quite harsh. Maybe we could change it, so that munitions is munitions like in Dueling Kit, just Proofed is not 6, but 5 (not as good as in Renaissance, but better than munitions).

What about ranged Proficiencies? IIRC, when you were creating characters there were no ranged weapons and we just erased them from the gaming world. But now we can introduce them. Problem is, you would probably like to have some Proficiences for it. Or not?

Well, Ruthard used to have XBow and Horsemanship. But we said no horses/ranged. If I may, could I select XBow @ def+1? Not that I will do, just asking if you're cool with it should I decide to. Ofc I'll bump one prof down by 1 to do that.

As for munition/proofed, I did bought munition at proofed prices. Darn. :(

But you can't default from your melee Proficiences, with ranged you must start from zero ;)
Benedict wrote:Not that I will do, just asking if you're cool with it should I decide to.
Ofc I'd be cool, as it was a matter of incomplete rules, that's why we made some decisions.
Benedict wrote:Ofc I'll bump one prof down by 1 to do that.
You could do that... but I was thinking, if you're both willing to learn ranged weapons, I could just give you some additional points to buy Proficiency and be done with it. But only if both of you are willing.
Benedict wrote:As for munition/proofed, I did bought munition at proofed prices. Darn. :(
It was gauntlets and vambraces, right? And Marras had a helmet. Well just change their AV to 5 and we're done.

Hans is an urban craftsman so I don't know how many opportunities he would have had to learn other ranged proficiencies than throwing daggers. But if Ruthard knows how to use a crossbow and we happen to "find" one then Hans is more than willing to learn how to use that.

About Ruthard's default, he would be creating the new default that way :) He would still have attributes as default and then ranks in addition to those. I suppose Benedict meant that.

OK, I will change AV of helmet to 5.
