As a minor update, we've made quite a bit of headway towards establishing the factions in our example setting this week, as well as setting up the tone and flavor of the place.

Thanks for the update! Little things like this really help us see what is happening behind the scenes.
So, are you going to include the example setting in beta? I thought it wouldn't be in it...

We figured it would serve as a good backdrop for the demo adventure

A demo adventure included? Good news!

We have been writing the "campaign creation" rules into their in-book form, and to experiment with the process we wound up creating the micro-setting that will be in the game. When we realized that we needed to finish writing up the examples that litter the book, we figured we'd just finish and formalize our campaign write-up and include it. So. Bonus content!
And yes, we have a demo adventure, and I'm pretty psyched for it.

Even as I don't have a slightest idea what those "campaign creation" rules might be, I have to say that they will be handy. No matter how long I have been running RPGs, you can always get more ideas to try and especially because our games have been less character driven than 'Bastards is I suspect this will be very useful.

Well, it's largely step-by-step advice on how to establish the setting in away that it puts everyone on the same page and at the same time laying out the main factions like domino pieces, each affecting the next, specifically to avoid the all-too-common situation of having some static powers-that-be vaguely in the background.
So, from that we smoothly transitioned into fleshing out the magic system, which probably won't end up in the beta, but having established some culture in our example setting, it was a logical step for us.
Then I reread the maneuvers to make sure they still made sense. Which is one of the best writing tools, btw -- letting a piece of text sit in a drawer, not touching it for a while and THEN reading it, preferably after a month or two. I'm glad to report the only tweaks were some minor clarifications.

No magic? That's sad
Hope the beta will not be too long
Campaign guidelines sound good though!

Even when you have been roleplaying as long as I have these things give a fresh way to think of how to build a setting. I am really looking forward to see that.
It is definitely good news that maneuvers didn't need more than a slight polish
For me the lack of magic rules in beta is not too big deal although I am eager to see that in the final product.

Can't argue that point. Definitely churns out pages faster than I do.
Anyone else excited for Teaser Thursdayâ„¢?
