Tapatalk was a dick and diplayed ads on our website. Not acceptable.

It was sneaky, too, as it only diplayed them on compatible devices that didn't have their app installed already. And yes, I had the ads turned off from their own settings. To no effect.

I can tolerate many things, but ads floating around on our website ain't one of them.

Bye-bye, Tapatalk.

After some consideration, I like the new forums.

And hate Tapatalk, so thumbs up on that.

Can't help with a helmet or knife quote though.

iunno man, I don't like change, and this new style... it's gonna need some gett'n used to for me. I mean it's cool that it' mobile friendly now, but then again, that doesn't suddenly make the concept of forum mobile-suited. Typing is already hard on them silly little screens - or maybe that's just mine...

Whatever. Guess i'll have to draw a helmet now (don't know why, but i found helmets hard to get right compared to other pieces of armour...).

I used Tapatalk almost exclusively to read this forum for a long time, but I gave up on them. They kept changing the interface every couple months, and tried too hard to force me into getting a Tapatalk account to do anything with their software. They kept giving me notifications, but when I went to the notifications tab there was nothing there. Very convenient for reading forums, if you don't mind jumping through their hoops, but it's a crappy piece of software overall.

I don't like light text on dark backgrounds. This theme does it as well ask it can be done, with light gray text on dark gray rather than white on black. But still does weird things to my eyes after reading for a while. But I'm not a huge regular on the forums, and I'd rather you spent time on the game than having to fiddle around with forum settings. My 2 cents. :)

No tapatalk, no problem.

Excellent.

In hindsight, I like this forum setup quite a bit - particularly the notifications in the top right, though I agree the ability to set up an alternate optional color scheme would be useful for people who prefer dark text on a light background. We'll have to see if that's a thing that's possible.

I like that all the images are responsive. As in, you don't need to resize them. Even if someone is using a smaller screen, the engine adjusts the image size automagically.

Ooh! The new style also notifies you when a post needs to be approved. :D

This means less delays when approving users. That alone makes the transition worth it.

Finally transitioned the forums to the phpBB 3.2.x.

Alas, fancydice extension was a casualty of that process, but now we're patched up and reCaptcha will help in our neverending fight with spam.
