Not a problem. Crude jokes are always better in Technicolor. :D

  • Fatigue is like a Level X wound - it increases the TN.
  • 1 point of Fatigue is taken when a Stamina/Endurance/etc. check is failed. The Obstacle for that check is 1 and increases by 1 every time you do this check.
  • Do such a check every 3 combat rounds, or after some time of doing a strenous activity etc. You take your encumbrance number* as penalty. Note that the check doesn't increase TN due to fatigue.
  • To reduce the Ob, you need to rest / stop fighting for a few rounds (i'd say, equally, 3 eounds).
*in my system, that's Total Carried Weight Units, divided by Vitality (Strength + Endurance + Size), rounded down -- pretty much the only division in that game i can think of right now. Vitality also serves as the Blood to be lost in battle, naturally. With Base stats being 1 to 5, it should be about the 5 to 10 range.

Weight examples: A sword weighs 1 to 1.5 units, Heavy Armor weighs 8 to 12. This is of course not quite as realistic as i would want to do it, but at least the results make decent sense.
Fatigue as a temporary wound level is actually how we handled it in 'Bastards, though after some testing we ultimately ditched the idea of handling it in combat. We had a tendency to forget to check unless one opponent was intentionally trying to wear the other one out. Even then, most of our fights didn't last long enough for significant fatigue to accumulate.
Something new from r/RPGdesign because it came up there: Exhaustion mechanics
I like what this post decribes more than my own from before to be honest (as Exhaustion goes).

Note that this is completely unrelated to Bastards, as i can agree with what Agamemnon said about Exhaustion.

Sounds like GURPS's The Last Gasp variant rule.

Alternatively, one could use the "imploding dice" mechanic, that is

Roll [Stamina] dice, any dice that lands on 1 is discarded until a rest is taken.
This is similar to Burning Wheel's Armour mechanic (armour has you roll a number of dice, and any dice landing on a 1 are discarded until repair, simulating armour degradation.)

Another variant i've seen (in a Savage Worlds supplement, i think) was: start with a dice type (up to D12), and when rolled, downgrade to the next lower (d12 -> d10 -> d8 -> d6 -> d4) when it lands on a 1.
Although, that mechanic was used not for stamina and fatigue, but rather for ammunition / mmagazine (a 1 on a d4 meant "you can do one more shot, then you're out of ammo")

I just realized...

the "Belt" Header on the Character Sheet should totally read "Bandolier of Bastards" instead.

Hahahaha, i'm an idiot.

It turns out that you can make rap actually good, if you add traditional instruments and mongolian throat-singing. Who would have thought? :D

I've never had my call center experience so accurately explained with so few words.

I recorded this back in 2012. I came across it again and sent it to Barbarossa for a laugh. Then we both got sad.

It took us a considerable amount of research and effort to perfect this in the rules.
