There is a new post in the actual play thread, but I think I'll wait for Marras? Maybe he wants to do something important.

Marras wrote:The gang is lead by a man named Rocco the Red. It is around 20 men strong and the rumor on the street is that it is affiliated with a merchant family but Cirillo doesn't know what that family is or even if the rumor is true or not. Rocco's gang runs illegal gambling dens where Cirillo ran into trouble with them as he was accused of cheating. They also run a protection racket and are rumored to dabble in small time smuggling.

OK, Marras, so... do you act? Or let me do my (actually, Marco's) crazy shit?
Thirtythry - to make sure - if I train the moves with a rapier, I don't break the Oath? And what about sparring?

Re: The Floating City [OOC]
For only a minor vow I would say training and sparring is okay. I could even be convinced that under certain circumstances (trapped, with nowhere to run) you could even justify using a sword to defend yourself (and not attack).
Attacking someone with a sword with intent to harm is always going to be a violation. The more difficult Marco makes his vow for himself though, the more likely others are to buy into his David vs Goliath story... and you get a SA for "playing up".
Remember, vow is mostly about reputation. Marco is physically capable of doing whatever he pleases and no magic bolt of lightning is going to strike him if he kills a man with a sword... but if anyone sees what happened they are going to think Marco is a hypocrite (and he will gain the Oathbreaker Flaw if he repeatedly breaks the vow).

Re: The Floating City [OOC]
We were talking about this and I thought we established Marco's Vow more like his personal oath. With repercussions other, than Oathbreaker. I mean, Marco really believes he must act this way. So if he breaks the Vow he would rather develop Paranoia, or something.

That's fine with me.
If he repeatedly breaks the vow we will come up with a flaw we agree is suitable to the situation.

OK, great. But I doubt we ever get this far
Anyway: sparring with wooden rapiers is OK, that's what I needed to know.

Re: The Floating City [OOC]
For the sparring:
Marco gets to fire "Teach Giacomo a lesson" for 2.
Equipment
AV0 on face, AV2 everywhere else, 0CP penalty. Wooden Swords are +0b/+0b Long.
Rules for the fight:
After each successful blow (whether it is uncontested or not) a new bout is started. You reroll red/white, reset reach, remove impact etc.
A blow is contested if your opponent also lands a blow in the same PHRASE (Doesn't matter if it was before or after).
1 point for an uncontested blow (anywhere on the body).
0 points for a contested blow.
A blow doesn't have to damage to score a point, it just has to hit.
First to 3 points wins.
No punching/grabbing allowed.
We can run it in roll20 the next time we see eachother online like we did the gladiator fight and I'll copy it into the thread.
Also, Alex/DannyBoy, what are you guys up to in Scene 2? Any final discussions or preparations before knocking on the door?

Re: The Floating City [OOC]
AV 0 on face... but are we allowed to aim for head?
I can't play now, but give me 2 or 3 hours and I'm relatively free to play for the rest of the day. Or tomorrow, or something.
I must say at first I was going to propose Giacomo this deal: if I win, he helps me find the rapist. If I lose, we leave this case alone, as he wanted. But now I think that would break my Vow somewhat, because I could win something thanks to swordfighting. There should be nothing to gain, the fight should not be important (even with wooden swords).
