If they stand near the door and try to listen they can hear. I was assuming Marras would say something like "Cirillo relays to the others what was said" when he comes out and you wouldn't have to reexplain. If you want to have a separate conversation with each other about what you are hearing (or just want to leave immediately to check out one of the locations) you can do that.Alex wrote:any chance people outside the door could hear any of her talk?

Re: The Floating City [OOC]
I apologize for the interruption, but I couldn't help but notice two things:
a) a few of you are writing in the past tense, whereas others use the present tense. The GM seems to prefer present tense as well, so, I'd stick with that.
b) some of you are writing in first person (I do X, Y and Z), whereas the others write in third person (Benjamin does X, Y and Z). With multiple viewpoints, I think third person makes more sense.
Other than that, I'm enjoying the read so far. Can't wait to see where this is going!

Re: The Floating City [OOC]
True on both counts higgins, but knowing we have several players who know English as a second language I wasn't going to make any fuss about it.
Also higgins, is it possible for me to have thread editing privileges in The Floating City forum only? I'd like to be able to do things like rename/delete threads, delete posts etc. I like keeping stuff uncluttered and organized.
Here is a Lion of Saint Mark, as shown on the flag of the Republic of Venice. It has both religious and nationalistic connotations.

I always did it in 3rd person, past time - natural for me. I'll switch to present tenses, OKhiggins wrote:a) a few of you are writing in the past tense, whereas others use the present tense. The GM seems to prefer present tense as well, so, I'd stick with that.

How many people have cinquedeas with this Lion? I mean, is this very popular? Maybe I've got one too?thirtythr33 wrote:Here is a Lion of Saint Mark, as shown on the flag of the Republic of Venice. It has both religious and nationalistic connotations.

Re: The Floating City [OOC]
Many people have cinquedeas and the lion is a symbol of the republic of Venice. I imagine it might be like seeing someone today wearing a hat with the American flag on it. It would be a strange to see it twice in the same day, but there most certainly is going to be quite a few in the city.

Re: The Floating City [OOC]
Good info about writing in the present tense and third person.
By the way, some of you are writing elaborate prose and it's nice to read. It's not going to be my case because :1) my character is a foreigner, and 2) English is a second language for me

Actually, speaking of foreign, just how foreign is Karl? I.e. what is his native language, because Giorgio would appreciate someone able to communicate in German for relaying private info.

No worries. Marras and me are in the same situationAlex wrote:By the way, some of you are writing elaborate prose and it's nice to read. It's not going to be my case because :1) my character is a foreigner, and 2) English is a second language for me
I do even check the online vocabularies sometimes, to make sure I understand everything 100% (and it's good for me, you learn the language when you really use it, don't you?).
I hope we do understand each other well, that's most important
Danny, good ideas about this nightgown and all! For me it was also suspicious, and this is why I started to ask Viena some questions... but than I realized Marco is not smart enough for this and just left this topic.
If I ever play Marco too smart, just remind me he is of Acumen 1

Thanks buddy! I'm actually pretty proud of that one because I'm usually pretty dense when it comes to this stuff IRLDanny, good ideas about this nightgown and all! Yeah, that was a good catch! I just assumed the they had changed her clothes when she got back to the house. As it is, Cirillo doesn't suspect anything, otherwise he would have at least tried to smell if she had drank as much as she let us understand.

Re: The Floating City [OOC]
Thanks higgins!
For rolling we will be using roll20.net (unless anyone knows a better way that doesn't require us being online at the same time?)
Join the game here!
https://app.roll20.net/join/1377837/fY6hbQ
When you get in the game you should be able to see how I have made rolls in the chat. You should all be able to roll dice there too, where I will be able to see the results when I log back in later.
For BoB, the rolling code would look something like:
/r {6d10!}>6
the ! makes it exploding, and the >6 sets the target number.
I'd like Ob3 Perception (Acu/Cun) tests from Karl and Giorgio to investigate the area. Karls SA "Punish the Nobles who raped a lowborn woman" is firing.
If anyone is having troubles let me know so I can try to find another solution.

Re: The Floating City [OOC]
Don't forget that in BoB "All sales are final" is the rule. This roll is counting for all "investigation type" things that are coming up until the rest of the scene, so all your findings and/or complications might not all be immediately apparent. This was just the first time it made sense to need the roll.Alex wrote:Was expecting more success, but at least we have a mitigated success.
That would also be acceptable. I'll leave it up to DannyBoy whether he wants to roll his own or assist.Alex wrote:Since both characters are investigating, would it be better just to have one character "taking point" instead of both characters rolling?

Re: The Floating City [OOC]
I've been running my campaigns on roll20 as well. Here are a few macros that might make things easier for you. I know they were extremely handy for me.thirtythr33 wrote:Thanks higgins!

The GM will have to set these up.
> Go to Settings (the little cog)
> Look under Macros (usually at the top)
> Click +Add
Here's the first one. Label it "Die-Roller"
Hit Test Macro. It should ask you to put in your die pool, your TN, and then give you the option to label what you're rolling for - making it easier for anyone to find the roll later. If you put nothing in the default field, it will just say "for reasons." When you click submit, it will spit out the text telling you how many successes you rolled and automatically reroll 10s.Die-Roller wrote: /me rolls [[?{Pool|0}d10>?{TN|6}!]] successes for ?{reason|reasons}.
The remaining macros are set up for Initiative, but we use the d6s any time we need a d6 result:
Red-D6 wrote:/me threw Red [[1d6]]
White-D6 wrote:/me threw White [[1d6]]
Now the important part, GM-side. When creating each macro, make sure you scroll all the way down and make each macro visible to all players. If you don't, no one can use it.Slow-d10 wrote:/me declared a Slow Action [[1d10]]
PLAYERS: Once it's set up, everyone needs to do the following:
> Go to Settings (the little cog)
> Look under Macros (usually at the top)
> Put a check mark in the box for each available Macro
> Put a check mark in the box that says "Show Macro Quick Bar?"
Now everyone should have the four buttons at the bottom of their roll20 screen. It's far, far more convenient by comparison.
(Now I will go read the actual play!)
